Hello all,
my name is Fanis (from Theofanis) and I was born in Athens. I'm a Civil Engineer graduated from Democretus Univercity of Thrace and I run a small construction company.
From my first years of life I was very close to everything related to technical stuff and electronics. I was always trying to visit my grandfather's house not only because he loved me, but also had a wonderfull tube SW receiver, so I was staying awake many nights listening to DX broadcasting stations. After some years of shortwave listening, I got my amateur radio license at 1989 and I own SV1BGM callsign since then !
I enjoy as much as I can our hobby and I really like making things related to remote control and microcontrollers for ham radio use. I started making simple projects with the famous Basic Stamp, but then I jumped to PIC programmimg. I'll try to present here my projects and maybe you will find some of them usefull.
I participate in Athens Wireless Metropolitan Network and I own and maintain #6233 node located at my QTH, KM18VB. The node is active with 5 GHz Backbone Links and an Access Point at 2,4 GHz offering free access to the network.
I'm married (finally) with Fotini :-) since 2013. She is great and she gives me enough time for my hobbies.
I love dogs, especially dobermans and I also like to watch the night sky with my telescope. Astronony is another favourite hobby.
I'm not a professional programmer or hardware designer, but my projects are tested and work really well for many years. I'm trying to read a lot before making something and I always ask for help from more experienced guys. So... I don't know everything and maybe I'll not be able to answer to all of your questions. But I'll do my best to help you in my free time. All of my production projects are well documented and understandable from average people. Most of them are "plug and play", but you may need to make yourself some interconnection cables for your radio.
This web site is very basic and might have some misspelings. I'll try to update it often and maybe make it look more attractive. Sorry for bad English, it's not my mother language. I challenge you to learn Greek :-)))

or you can see my wireless node : http://sv1bgm.dyndns.org
